FTO Refresher Class in Lynnwood Washington in April 2026 hosted by David Harris and Associates

 

The Refresher for the Field Training Officer (FTO) class is 16 hours (2 days). This class is designed for officers, deputies, troopers, and detention officers who have attended a Basic FTO Academy with a focus on the San Jose Model of FTO. This course will review Adult Learning methodologies as well as review the evaluation rules, the importance of ethical evaluations, issues related to improper documentation, and the importance of like-kind training. In addition, this course also features the following instruction:

  • Enhancing Your FTO Skills
  • 5 Deadly Errors of the DOR
  • Understanding the SEG’s

Many agencies forget that continuing education for the Field Training Officer is critical to maintaining a healthy FTO program. It is also important to ensure that training for the FTO is in line with current best practices nationally.
