Basic FTO (Field Training Officer) Academy
This 40 hour course is designed to prepare the attendee for the assignment of Field Training Officer. Whether law enforcement or corrections, this class is specific to agencies who utilize the San Jose Model (SJM) for field training.
The class includes:
- Instructor Development
- Adult Learning Methodologies
- Coach-Pupil Method of Instruction
- Lesson Planning
- Evaluation Rules
- Formula for Documentation
- How to Deal with the Incapable Students
- Extensions and Not Responding to Training Issues
- The Ethical Considerations of Field Training Programs
Attendees will complete a Daily Observation Report (DOR) based on a student’s performance, utilizing the Standardized Evaluation Guidelines (SEGs).
Designed for Police Officers, Sheriff’s Deputies, State Troopers, Correction & Detention personnel. The course ties in everything covered in the week and concludes with attendees viewing videos of the student officer performing various tasks and then rated by the attendees utilizing the SEGs.
Cost $497.00 per attendee – 25 attendee minimum for the class.
The host agency with class minimum of 25 attendees will receive 2 free seats for the Basic FTO Academy.
